From Pride Site1

Capital Pride is back in Ottawa from August 22-30, bringing a full week of music, performances, community events and vibrancy to downtown.

From Pride programming at Metcalfe Plaza and a special night of music on Sparks Street to drag shows, coffee stops, bike tours and the Pride Parade itself, there’s plenty happening in and around downtown throughout the week. Whether you’re planning a full day out with friends or looking for somewhere to stop between events, here are a few ways to make the most of Capital Pride downtown.

Begin with a Little Pick-Me-Up

Not every Pride outing needs to start with a party. Grab a coffee, meet up with friends and take some time to explore downtown before the day's events begin.

Start your day with a coffee from Ottawa Bike Café on Sparks Street, grab a brew from Little Victories Coffee, or stop by Bridgehead for a familiar downtown favourite. Pick up your coffee, find a patio or outdoor spot to sit and take your time exploring everything downtown has to offer.

Explore Downtown on Two Wheels

Looking for something fun to do between Pride events? See downtown from a different perspective with Escape Bike Tours.

Hop on a bike and explore Ottawa's streets, landmarks and waterfront while taking in the sights of the capital. It’s a fun way to spend a summer afternoon before heading downtown for music, performances and nightlife. Whether you're visiting Ottawa or looking for a new way to experience your own city, a bike tour is an easy way to fit some exploring into your Pride week.

Pride Meets the Plaza

As Pride weekend approaches, the energy downtown will be building at Metcalfe Plaza, with programming kicking off on Thursday, August 27. The plaza will feature Pride-themed programming, music and entertainment throughout the weekend, including Drag Karaoke on August 30. Located in the heart of downtown, Metcalfe Plaza is the perfect spot to meet up with friends, enjoy some entertainment, and soak up the summer atmosphere.

Keep the Party Going

When the sun goes down, keep the night going at Swizzles, one of downtown Ottawa's longtime queer-friendly nightlife spots. Known for drag shows, karaoke and a lively atmosphere, Swizzles is a natural stop for the perfect night out.

Your Pride Playlist Live from the Booth

On Saturday, August 29, Capital Pride comes to The Booth on Sparks Street with a special edition of Live from the Booth, presented in collaboration with Capital Pride.

From 8-10 p.m., DJs and electronic music artists will bring the energy to Sparks Street with a free outdoor music experience.

It’s the perfect way to keep the weekend going after a day of events, grab dinner nearby and enjoy some music downtown. The Booth is located on Sparks Street between Elgin Street and Metcalfe Street.

Don't Miss the Pride Parade

The biggest downtown moment of the week arrives on Sunday, August 30, when the Capital Pride Parade takes over the downtown streets.

The parade begins at 1 p.m., bringing thousands of people together downtown to celebrate Pride and Ottawa's 2SLGBTQ+ community. Come early, find a spot along the route and stay downtown after the parade to keep the celebration going.

Keep the Pride Energy Going at the Royal Oak

Not ready to call it a day after the parade? Head to The Royal Oak (180 Kent Street) for the Pride Parade Drag After Party on Sunday, August 30 at 2:30 p.m. Featuring drag performances by Holi Cow and Farm Haus Drag, the after-party is the perfect place to keep the Pride energy going once the parade wraps up.

Grab your friends, head over after the parade and settle in for an afternoon of drag, drinks and Pride festivities downtown.
