The Downtown BIA (DTBIA) is seeking proposals for Sidewalk Cleaning and Public Space Maintenance Services for a nine-month term beginning April 15, 2026. This contract supports the ongoing care and cleanliness of built assets and public spaces throughout the Downtown BIA in the City of Ottawa.

The scope of work includes regular sidewalk and curb sweeping, weed abatement, and proactive site inspection across the BIA. Services will focus on maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment, particularly in high-traffic pedestrian areas.

Responsibilities include the removal of debris, litter, needles, and bio-waste from sidewalks, curbs, landscaped areas, and around street furniture using hand or power equipment. Weed control will be carried out using environmentally responsible methods, with attention to accessibility and overall streetscape quality.

In addition, the selected contractor will support ongoing site inspections by identifying, reporting, and tracking maintenance needs across the BIA. This includes issues such as graffiti, damaged infrastructure, missing or deteriorating plants, sidewalk and curb repairs, and areas requiring pressure washing or repainting.

Through this work, the DTBIA aims to uphold a high standard of cleanliness and maintenance across the downtown core.
