Your Perfect Day at Buskerfest: Catch Every Spark of Downtown Fun
Expect the unexpected, downtown during Buskerfest weekend. From August 8 to 10, the heart of the city transforms into a vibrant, open-air stage filled with jaw-dropping acts, spontaneous surprises, and nonstop entertainment for all ages.
Whether exploring downtown with family or friends, here’s how to turn your day downtown into a full-on festival adventure.
Explore the Core
Before the shows begin, take some time to explore the best of downtown Ottawa. You’re just steps from some of the city’s most iconic landmarks like the Rideau Canal, the National War Memorial, and Parliament Hill. Grab a coffee from a local café and enjoy a relaxed morning walk through the core, where history, architecture, and festival buzz come together.

Get in the Zone
Once you’re back in the festival zone, let the day unfold as you follow your curiosity. You might come across balloon artists, living statues, stilt walkers, or magicians entertaining small crowds along the way.
Street shows pop up all day long and change constantly. One moment you're watching a juggler tossing flaming clubs, the next you're caught up in an acrobatic act or laughing along with a street comedian. No tickets needed, no strict schedule, just spontaneous entertainment at its best.

Where Patios Meet Performances
Downtown Ottawa has no shortage of great spots to eat. Whether you want a sit-down meal or something quick and kid-friendly, there’s something for everyone. Sparks Street patios also give you a great view of the street, so you won’t miss a thing!

Take a Breather
Need a break? You're never far from a peaceful pocket of green space. Confederation Park nd Parliament Hill are both nearby and perfect for taking a breather, finding shade, or letting little ones run around for a few minutes.

The Grand Finale Awaits
As evening sets in, the energy downtown shifts. Fire performers light up the streets, crowds grow, and the final acts of the day pull out all the stops. If the kids still have energy, this is a grand finale worth sticking around for. Catch the final show at the World Exchange Plaza on Sunday, August 10th at 5pm.

Festival Tips to Make the Most of Your Day
Bring small bills or coins for performer tips. It's how they earn a living, and it's a great way for kids to show appreciation
Pack light but bring essentials like water, sunscreen, hats, and hand sanitizer
Dress for the weather and be prepared for sun, heat, or the occasional summer sprinkle
Use transit or bike if possible. The festival is close to major OC Transpo routes and LRT stations
Snap a photo of the daily schedule so you can easily find your favorite acts later
Take breaks when needed and don’t try to do it all. It’s a drop-in style event, so feel free to come and go
